If you are having problems connecting to a remote host, you can run a number of tests to diagnose the fault.
Run the client-side connection tests from Eclipse in the first instance to try and diagnose the problem. The tests are run on a per-connection basis, and will run through a collection of client-side tests, and then remotely runs a collection of server-side tests.
Not all server-side tests are able to run remotely, as some tests required super-user authority. To run all server-side tests, do so from the server, under a user that has super-user authority.
