Automate Tasks
Would you like to automate functionalities of the Micro Focus OM administration? Would you like to access the Micro Focus OM APIs with various additional languages which are beyond the native Micro Focus OM capabilities, like C++, Perl and Java? The API Toolkit extends your ability to access, use and automate Micro Focus OM servers to manage their workflow.
The API Toolkit allows you to easily and rapidly create tools to automatically implement typical Micro Focus OM tasks like the following:
- Reporting and housekeeping: For example, finding all the nodes with a certain IP address range, which have heartbeat-polling disabled, then enabling the polling and sending a completion message.
- Operator utilities: For example, forced disowning of messages for non-admin users while generating a corresponding annotation.
- Complex or multi-step tasks: For example adding a node, moving it to a layout group, assigning it to node groups, deploying policies, etc.
- Integrate external products: For example helpdesk, trouble ticket or notification systems (with much more flexibility and less maintenance effort) or to generate reports or HTML views.
Features
Supported API families and platforms on Micro Focus OM managed nodes:
- Agent Message API – to submit Micro Focus OM messages directly.
- Agent Monitor API – to submit Micro Focus OM monitor values directly.
- Agent Message Stream Interface (MSI) – to read and/or write messages directly in the Micro Focus OM message stream.
The following API families and platforms are supported by the Micro Focus OM Management Server (with complete functionality for all supported languages):
- Server Message API: Supports all message and annotation-related operations and application starts.
- Configuration API: Allows the creation, modification and deletion of all Micro Focus OM configuration items.
- Server Message Stream Interface (MSI): Used on the Micro Focus OM Management Server to read and/or write messages directly in the Micro Focus OM message stream.
- Message Event Interface (MEI): Supports the registration of Message Change Events (MCEs) for example message acknowledgment, message own and others.
- Application Response Interface (ARI): Necessary after starting applications using the Server Message API to listen for the successful start of the application.
- Legacy Link Interface: Used to integrate own agent platforms via external communication facilities.
- Service API: Used to browse the Micro Focus Service Navigator Service Model and to register for service status change events.
