These set of CloudSlang workflows will allow you to collect the CO2e (in kg/24hr) of each compute instance in your public cloud environment.
The workflows will connect to your Azure or AWS environment and will make an inventory of all active instances and will calculate the CO2e based on the instance types (for AWS) or VM details (for Azure), combined with the region/location where the instances are running.
The workflows are using the Climatiq.io API (https://www.climatiq.io), together with the Azure and AWS API's to collect all data that is required to collect the relevant data. Refer to the respective API documentation for how to get access tokens and keys.
The access credentials can be entered on flow run, or can be stored alongside the flows in the configuration library. When deploying the content pack in OO Central, make sure to deploy the proper values from the configuration to Central too.
The output of these flows is intentionally kept very simple. Just two output properties are used, total_co2e and instance_list, in order to easily be used for further processing, for instance, to store the co2e data in an external database. The instance list is a simple comma-separated list that can also be used for further processing.
This initial release only covers AWS and Azure. The next planned version will also collect CO2e information from other public cloud providers.
