KwikSelect fields
A KwikSelect field is a field where you can either type data or click the KwikSelect button to select items from a list.
A KwikSelect uses the icon:
The KwikSelect button is at the end of a field.
The KwikSelect field is linked to a list in the Content Manager dataset.
Click KwikSelect to show a window from which you can select an item.
See Select From ... dialogue boxes.
Some examples of how KwikSelect fields operate:
- Search By - in a search dialogue box will display a categorised list of all available search methods
- Title Word - will display a list of all words used in record titles. This will not include any noise words
- Assignee Location - will display a list of all Locations
- Type in the field, click KwikSelect and Content Manager displays a list of those items matching what you typed.
- Click KwikSelect with an empty field to display the whole list, for example, if you are in a search dialogue box and want to search by Assignee Location:
- If you type a character into the field - for example, A - and then click the KwikSelect button, the list will only display Locations starting with an A.
- If you do not type any characters, then the list will display all Locations.
- Some fields require a character to be typed in before KwikSelect works.
One of these is the Title Word search method. If you do not enter at least one character for the system to start displaying the list from, then the message KwikSelect prefix text must not be left blank appears.
The preferred method for opening KwikSelect using the keyboard is ALT+UP ARROW.
NOTE: You can set KwikSelect for records to always display the record search dialogue when no value has been specified for the record number: In File - Options - Options Search page - Starting point when searching - For any other type of Record, select Search and click OK.
