Profile page
Use the Profile page to create and configure the user's Content Manager security and permissions.
- Usage Profile
- Use Profile Of - sets a user to use the details of an existing Location.
When you select a user profile for a user, Content Manager applies a different set of dynamic permissions to the user Location.
NOTE:
Using Use Profile Of for a Location of user type Administrator without the Security and Audit Administrator permission:
- You can only have a profile - any field on the Profile page form - if the Location type is not Unknown
- You can only have a login if you can have a profile and Location type is not Group.
- A login administrator, i.e. a user with Modify Logins and User Profile permission, cannot change anything on their own profile but their security
- Only a login administrator can change everything on another user's profile form
- If the login administrator does not have the Security and Audit Administrator permission:
- they cannot change the User Type of any existing user
- they cannot create a new user of user type Administrator.
The message You need to be a security and audit administrator to create administrator users appears.
The following UK PRO requirement is also implemented here: When you change a user from User Profile Of back to having an individual profile, Content Manager maintains the settings of the user in Use Profile Of so that you can refine them further.
- Security - enables you to assign security levels and caveats to a Location.
- Use Profile Of - sets a user to use the details of an existing Location.
- User Type - to select from pre-defined Content Manager user types for this Location:
- Administrator - has all access permissions
- Records Manager
- Records Co-ordinator
- Knowledge Worker
- Contributor
- Inquiry User
When you select a user type, Content Manager applies a set of default permissions to the Location, which governs what they can do in Content Manager. The allocated permissions appear in the Permissions list below with tags and are selected according to the function a user of that type performs typically.
You can customise a user's permissions by selecting a user type that contains all the permissions they need, and then removing permissions from the user profile as required.
See User permissions. You can recognise the different user types in a list of Locations by the type of icon in the User Type column.
See Location list pane.NOTE: When you change a Location's user type and global settings are set for the Location, for security purposes the access permissions will still use the global settings of the original user type. Click Get Global to retrieve the global settings for the new user type.
- Permissions - displays the selected access permissions. The enabled permissions depend on the User Type selected. These user permissions are grouped into the object update permissions groupings. Expand or collapse each group to enable or disable individual user permissions.
For details of each of these user permissions, see User permissions.
NOTE: When you change an individual user's permissions, Content Manager resets their toolbars and menus to the default.
