Dragging
You can drag items to perform certain functions:
- Electronic document creation - drag an electronic file from Windows Explorer or your Desktop to Content Manager, Content Manager Desktop or Offline Records.
- Create a supercopy - drag a record with an attached electronic document from a Content Manager window to another window of an application like Windows Explorer or Outlook to create a supercopy in the destination window
- Change Assignee Location - drag a record to move it from one Location to another.
- Contain records - drag records to contain them in Content Manager.
- Relate records - use dragging to relate records within Content Manager.
See Relating records.
- Series records - drag a series record onto an in-series record.
The dragged record becomes the series of the target record.
If you drag the in-series record onto a series record, the Series option is unavailable.
-
Locations - drag a location on to another location. The Add Association and Cancel options are displayed. Click Add Association to define a relationship between the locations.
See Associations page.
NOTE:
- When you drag a record and go past the edges of the viewable window, the window will automatically scroll up or down to display the record you are looking for.
- In Content Manager you cannot put a record into a container by dragging and dropping unless the container is in view with the document you are moving.
- Dragging of tagged lists of items is not supported in Content Manager.
Dragging will only work for the currently selected item.
See CM25.2_Spec.pdf in the Content Manager installation folder's Documentation folder for more information about Content Manager's specifications and known limitations.
When you use right-click dragging, you will see a menu with the options:
- Relate - see above
- Series - see above
- Put in Container - see above
- Put in Alternative Container - place the record in an alternative container.
You can customise buttons and toolbars by holding down the ALT key and dragging an item to where you want it:
- Menu bars
- Toolbars
- Shortcut bars, etc.
NOTE: When you drag a button off a menu bar onto anything that is not a menu bar, the item will disappear until you either reset your toolbar or manually add it again.
