Connecting the Display to an Enterprise Server Region

After launching the display, how it connects to the enterprise server region on which the application runs depends on your configured TN3270 connection type (Preferences > Micro Focus > Enterprise Server > TN3270). For Rumba (Embedded) and Host Access for the Cloud connections, using the Show TN3270 Display option on the context menu of the region connects you immediately and allows you run the application. Within the embedded Rumba Mainframe Display view, connections can also be configured to connect automatically to the region associated with your project: in Window > Preferences > Micro Focus > Enterprise Server > TN3270, with the Rumba (Embedded version) option selected, select Connect automatically. If this option is not selected when using the Rumba Mainframe Display view, you must use the Connect to server (Connect) option within the view toolbar.

By default, the Rumba Mainframe Display view is capable of having more than one active connection at the same time, but only displays one of them in the view at any one time. To switch to a different active connection, you must use (Show Terminal) option to change the view to another connection. Alternatively, you can configure the Rumba Mainframe Display view to show each connection in a separate view: in Window > Preferences > Micro Focus > Enterprise Server > TN3270, with the Rumba (Embedded version) option selected, select Use multiple views.

When using Rumba+ Desktop or any third-party emulator, you need to connect manually to the enterprise server region after you have launched the emulator.
