Overlap Rule

For writable tables, in each record type on which a table is defined, none of the elementary data items may overlap except in the case of explicit redefinition within the same 01 record description.

That is, an overlap may not occur for elementary data items described in different 01 record descriptions as a result of implicit or explicit redefinition, regardless of whether a column is bound to either or both of the overlapping items.
