Rules for Insertable Tables

You must mark the table as insertable from the table definition pane.

If the table is not currently insertable, you can continue to mark it so, but refer to the reason(s) why you received the message above, then use the following topics to make the table insertable:

Subscript Rule
For writable tables, no column may be defined on a subscript item.
Repeating Item Rule
For writable tables, columns defined on a repeating data item must have its subscripts bound to constants.
OCCURS Rule
For writable tables, it must be possible for the Relativity DBMS to determine the value of every "OCCURS … DEPENDING ON" control item (ODO control item); that is, the occurrence count must be determined.
Same Item Rule
For writable tables, no two columns may be defined on the same item or on overlapping items within the same record type.
Record Type Rule
For writable tables, when a table is defined on multiple record types, it must be possible for the Relativity DBMS to determine the correct record type to use when inserting each record.
Only One 01 Rule
For writable tables, unless all of the columns in a table are bound to items that are located in the same 01-level item, each record type on which a table is defined must explicitly contain exactly one item at the 01 level.
Overlap Rule
For writable tables, in each record type on which a table is defined, none of the elementary data items may overlap except in the case of explicit redefinition within the same 01 record description.
Null Condition Rule
For writable tables, for each item in every record type on which the table is defined, if the item has a null condition and it is not defined on the data item itself, then the condition must have a "SET TO FALSE" value.
Filter Rule
For writable tables, it must be possible for the Relativity DBMS to ensure, for the table filter and for each record type filter, that the filter expression is true.
Key Rule
For writable tables, during an insert, values for unique keys must be determined.
Nullable Columns Rule
For writable tables, any column that is going to store an SQL NULL value must have a null condition-name.
