Monitoring BEA Weblogic Application Servers

This section briefly explains how BEA WebLogic servers can be monitored using Performance Explorer and some important WebLogic performance measures.

By default, the WebLogic SNMP agent is inactive. SNMP support can be enabled using the WebLogic Administration Console. With a Web browser you can launch the console by visiting http://weblogichost:port/console. In the left-hand menu tree, select the SNMP node. This brings up the SNMP configuration page. Using this page, verify that the SNMP agent is enabled. You must restart WebLogic to enable SNMP support.

  1. From Performance Explorer select, Monitor > Add Data Source . The Data Source Wizard dialog opens.
  2. Check Select from predefined Data Sources and click Next.
  3. This displays a selection of available monitoring data sources.
  4. From Application Server, select the preconfigured BEA WebLogic option and click Next.
  5. Specify the host and port where BEA WebLogic is running and click Next.
  6. This brings up a dialog that offers browsing for SNMP measures published by BEA WebLogic. This dialog only shows SNMP measures that are relevant for monitoring and ensure the reliability and performance of BEA WebLogic server environments.
