Using build tasks to compile your code

Visual Studio Code is a light-weight editor and differs significantly from an IDE (Visual Studio or Eclipse). It supports working with files, folders, and workspaces but does not support projects and does not offer a build system by default. It offers build tasks that are commands and scripts that enable you to use the Micro Focus Visual COBOL or the Enterprise Developer compiler to build your COBOL files.

You can access the build tasks from the Terminal menu.
