Description

In this course, you will learn how the entire application modernization journey started, from using Micro FocusTM Enterprise Developer (ED) on an off-cloud machine for application development, to designing a development and deployment environment using an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model.

You will learn to provision, create, and manage virtual machines on the cloud.

You will also learn to automate processes using Python scripts and use the ESCWA Client Web API to create and manage regions, including SQL and PAC/SOR based regions.

Finally, you will learn to create a fully managed mainframe service and a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline on the cloud.

The labs for this course use version 9.0 of the Enterprise Developer software; they also use the Public BankDemo repository as the Application Under Test (AUT).

Highlights:

  • Manually create a region using the public BankDemo application.
  • Work with Cloud Service Provider (CSP) services.
  • Provision tools like ED for Eclipse/Visual Studio, Mico FocusTM Visual COBOL Developer, Micro FocusTM Enterprise Analyzer, Micro FocusTM COBOL Analyzer, and Micro FocusTM Enterprise Test Server using Cloud Service Provider (CSP) offerings.
  • Use the automated scripts of the BankDemo public repository to provision regions.
  • Use the AWS Mainframe modernization service to create a full mainframe environment, including a CI/CD pipeline to orchestrate the application lifecycle.
