Creating Classification top level items
- From the Manage ribbon, select Classifications
The Classifications - top dialogue box appears.
- Right-click and from the New menu, select New Top Level item.
The first time you create a top level item, Content Manager prompts you to set the top level numbering pattern.
- After you have defined a numbering pattern or if you have already defined a numbering pattern, the New Top Level Item dialogue box - General tab appears.
- Fill in the Name field and other details you require on this dialogue box and then select the Numbering tab.

The allocated top level number will appear in the Classification Number field.
If it is incorrect, modify the top plan pattern (see above).
- Level Number - enables you to start numbering levels from a number other than 1.
For instance, if the Classification plan pattern is set to ggg, the first level created will be 001.
If you set Start Numbering After to 049, the first level Content Manager creates will be numbered 050.
- Allow new records to be attached to this Classification - select to allow users to attach records at this level and fill in Pattern for the numbering pattern Content Manager should follow for the records and Start Numbering After with the last number that you do not want Content Manager to use.
- Allow creation of new lower levels of this Classification - select if you want to allow users to create subordinate levels and type their number pattern and starting number in the relevant fields.
- Select the Access Controls tab to set Access Controls for the Classification.

- The Scheduled Tasks tab appears when the Content Manager feature Vital Alerts is selected in the System Options Features page. Content Manager creates scheduled tasks here automatically when necessary.

- Select the Additional tab to set Additional Field details.
