Installing Micro Focus XDBC

Installation is straightforward. If you plan to provide JDBC (Java) access to your COBOL data, there are a few environment variables that you must set.

If you are installing Micro Focus XDBC in a network environment, you must install XDBC Server on your remote server machine and XDBC Client on each client machine. Follow the instructions in the section Installing the Micro Focus XDBC Server Component, and then use the Installing the Micro Focus XDBC Client procedures to install and configure the clients in your network.

If you are installing Micro Focus XDBC in a local environment, you must install XDBC Local on your local server machine. Follow the instructions in the section Installing the Micro Focus XDBC Server Component.

Important: You cannot install Micro Focus XDBC through remote access. If you do, the license file will not be recognized and the product will not work. You must install directly onto the target machine.

Note: If an older version of Micro Focus XDBC is installed on your machine, it needs to be uninstalled before you can install a newer version.
