Micro Focus Positioned as a Leader in Gartner 2019 Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing

Micro Focus Achieves Market Leader Status for the Sixth Time, Reinforcing the Portfolio’s Long-Standing Product Viability and Excellence

2 May 2019

SUNNYVALE, CAMicro Focus (LSE: MCRO; NYSE: MFGP) today announced that it has been named a Leader in the Gartner 2019 Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing report. This marks the sixth time that Micro Focus has been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing report.*

As part of its evaluation, Gartner reviewed several AST products and services within the Micro Focus Fortify portfolio, including: Static Code Analyzer (SAST), WebInspect (DAST), Software Security Center and Application Defender.

According to the report, "DevSecOps, modern web application design and high-profile breaches are expanding the scope of the AST market. Security and risk management leaders will need to meet tighter deadlines and test more complex applications by accelerating efforts to integrate and automate AST in the software life cycle."

"The evolving threat landscape fundamentally requires solutions that contain a comprehensive set of enterprise-class capabilities," said Scott Johnson, Fortify General Manager for Micro Focus. "Since the report's inception Fortify has been recognized as a Leader in application security testing solutions achieving industry acknowledgement for its breadth and depth of products, and for its ability to meet the needs of customers across the application security spectrum."

Fortify delivers complete solutions for both on-premise and as a service offerings that enable customers the flexibility of choice based on their application security needs. The updated portfolio is fully integrated into any DevOps tool chain with enhanced automation capabilities.

"Through 2022, the AST market is projected to have a 10% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). This continues to be a fast-growing segment in the information security space, which itself is expected to grow at a five-year CAGR of 9%. The AST market size is estimated to reach $1.15 billion by the end of 2019," the report goes on to state.

The projected rise in the AST market coincides with the need for developers to build new, better applications in a more agile environment. Addressing this need Fortify solutions are making application security a natural part of the development lifecycle.
