Term relationships
To establish the hierarchical structure within your Thesaurus, you need to relate terms to each other as in this example:
| Animal - top term | |||
| Dogs - narrower term of Animals | |||
| By Breed - node label, a term which describes the basis by which the term has been further divided | |||
| Corgi - narrower term of Dogs | |||
| Dingo - narrower term of Dogs | |||
| German Shepherd - narrower term of Dogs | |||
| Poodle - narrower term of Dogs | |||
The Thesaurus function enables you to relate Thesaurus terms in several ways:
- Broader term - see Creating broader terms
- Narrower term - see Creating narrower terms
- Related term - see Creating related terms
- Use term - see Creating Use terms
- Use For term - see Creating Use For terms.
TIP: You can also relate Thesaurus terms by using the right-click and drag functionality.
When you drop the term on another term, a menu with all the relate options appears.
