Catalog Ownership

Relativity catalogs have an ownership property that restricts catalog design to only those users assigned to the owner group.

By default, a catalog has no owner when it is first created, which means that anyone can log on and make changes. However, as soon as the first group is added to the catalog, it automatically becomes the owner of that catalog, and only users assigned to that group can log on to the Relativity Designer and design the catalog.

You can configure Relativity Designer to check that a catalog has an owner when you log on (Tools > Options > General > Require Catalog have Owner Group), and if it does not, you are prompted to add the group that will become the owner group.

Once a catalog has an owner group, all of its users are automatically granted all privileges for the database, and can perform every operation that supports a Relativity database. They can perform such tasks as:
