3.5 Printer Sessions

Using Extra! you can print Host files on your local printer. You can:

  • Open and configure printing sessions

  • Define page layouts

  • Hold or cancel printing

  • Access printer session status information

  • Save printer session configuration and page layout settings

A printer session sets up the communications link between the host and your local printer. A display session is used to enter the necessary host print commands. Like display sessions, printer sessions are created, opened, and closed.

With Extra! you can configure Host print job settings as you would a PC print job. You can set parameters that range from margins and fonts, to advanced host printing parameters such as hex passthrough data stream processing. Once print commands are issued from the display session, the print job can be controlled and monitored from the printer session using printer controls and the status feature.
